Online Counseling for Mental Health in Bartlett

Online counseling services are effective, safe, and convienient

Health and Healing Therapy has been providing online counseling services, sometimes called tele-mental health services, or tele-healthcare, since March, 2020. We have found it to be effective, easy, and safe. Many people enjoy the simple access, no commute time, flexibility, and ease of connecting with us for therapy sessions while in the comfort and safety of their own home or office.

We welcome the opportunity to support you and/or your family through this unique and accessible way to provide mental health care.

If you are wondering if online-counseling or tele-health sessions are right for you, we encourage you to consider the following:

Telehealth therapy and counseling is effective and safe.

Research has shown that online counseling / tele-mental healthcare is as effective as in-person counseling sessions. In addition, because of what is happening with COVID-19, online therapy is the safest option for both clients and staff.

How we connect for online counseling sessions:

We can meet with you via your desktop, laptop, tablet, or cell phone. All you need is an internet connection and a working camera on your device. If you do choose to use your cell phone or tablet, there is an application you need to download – we will walk you through the steps of how to access and utilize it.

If you don’t have access to have a online device and/or lack an internet connection, we can instead have telephone counseling sessions. Phone sessions are also available if you are more comfortable with and prefer not incorporating the video option. We will work with you to develop a modality of therapy that feels most comfortable for you.

Concerned about Privacy?

If you are concerned about having a private space to meet for your session, no worries! A number of people use their cell phone while sitting in their car as it is the most quiet, private space they have available.

The video platform we use for online therapy services is integrated within our electronic healthcare record system, SimplePractice. SimplePractice uses a HIPAA compliant software so your information is kept safe, secure, and confidential.

Getting Started:

If you are interested beginning online therapy services with us, please complete our therapy services request form and we will follow up with you to schedule your first telehealth session.

How do I know if I need therapy, intensive treatment, or if I should go to the hospital?

When a person has a fever, pain, or notices a change within their body, they know to visit the doctor. When someone breaks a bone, it is well-recognized that the emergency room would be the best place to go. However, when a person is experiencing symptoms of depression, how does one determine whether or not the symptoms are severe enough for hospitalization, rather than outpatient therapy? These two can look very different, and when asked what the levels of care are available within the mental health care system, a person can usually be met with crickets. Although the stigma surrounding mental health is decreasing, there is still a lot to learn about mental health, mental health care, and more specifically regarding the levels of care within mental health. Different levels of care focus on the intensity, complexity, structure, and support tha...

Sometimes, the stress and worry about the load of school work that may be assigned during the semester can be anxiety provoking as well. Managing this fear, concern, and worry can be difficult. It can be overwhelming to think about what the new semester will bring in terms of school work, teachers, and social interactions. Although it can be tempting to want to avoid our anxious thoughts about the upcoming semester, it can also be helpful to tune into those thoughts. Imagine yourself in a stressful or anxiety provoking experience — after imagining that, it can be helpful to think about skills that you have used in the past to help you get thro...
